Notification and Contact Tracing
If your child tests positive for COVID-19:
-
Please call the school nurse (Beth Eads at 615-279-7970 ext. 330349) and leave a message. Please also email Principal Collins (Jeanna.Collins@mnps.org), Jennifer Landry (Jennifer.Landry@mnps.org), Beth Eads (elizabeth.eads@nashville.gov), and their teacher immediately.
-
The student testing positive AND their entire household is required to ISOLATE and stay home from ALL activities (school, work, errands, etc). The student who is positive must isolate for a minimum of 10 days from the start of symptoms or the date of positive test. The rest of the household must isolate for those 10 days + additional days (up to 14 more) depending on the severity of the case.
-
To return to school, a student that had a positive test must be symptom-free for at least 24 hours. This student will have a case monitor assigned from the Metro Public Health Department and will receive a letter of release prior to return.
If your child is identified as a close contact:
-
Please call the school nurse (Beth Eads at 615-279-7970 ext. 330349) and leave a message. Please also email Principal Collins (Jeanna.Collins@mnps.org), Jennifer Landry (Jennifer.Landry@mnps.org), Beth Eads (elizabeth.eads@nashville.gov), and their teacher immediately.
-
The close contact student must QUARANTINE and stay home from ALL activities (school and all extracurriculars or other activities outside the home) for 10 days.
-
In the K-12 indoor classroom setting, the close contact definition now excludes students who were within 3 to 6 feet of infected students if both were properly wearing a mask.
-
Staff who are fully vaccinated are not required to quarantine if no symptoms are present after exposure.
-
If a person in quarantine develops symptoms or tests positive for COVID-19 during their quarantine, the entire household must then go into isolation.
-
If, upon further investigation by the Health Department, it is determined the student is not a close contact, you will be notified and your child will be allowed to return to school immediately. You will NOT need a release letter to return.
